The scarlet beast is the most notable of all the players in the final crisis. In Revelation 17:3, John saw “a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns”.
In the previous video, we saw that the scarlet beast has a striking resemblance to the beast that arises from the sea in Revelation 13. Both beasts have seven heads and ten horns, and both are full of blasphemous names. They both have a sphere of influence over various people, nations, tribes, and languages, and they both make war with the saints. Most notably, the true followers of both beasts are the same people: those “whose names have not been written in the book of life” (Revelation 13:8, 17:8).

One of the identifying factors as to the identity of the scarlet beast is its 10 horns: “The ten horns which [John] saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast” (Revelation 17:12,13). This passage reminds us of the fourth beast of Daniel 7, which also had 10 horns.
As we saw in video 3, those horns represent European nations which, although most of the time at odds with one another, were united in their support and enforcement of the coercive agenda of the medieval papacy. In Revelation 17, the ten kings, likewise, symbolize the diverse nations that unite under the stress of the great tribulation, held together by the glue of religiosity imposed by the harlot/Babylon the Great. We already saw these kings in chapter 16; they are “the kings of the whole world” who are “gathered for the battle of that great day of God Almighty… to the place called Armageddon” (Revelation 16:14-16).
Through most of the great tribulation, the masses of people, symbolized by “the waters where the harlot sits,” will blindly support the harlot. However, in agony and dissolution brought about by the seven last plagues, the masses of people will finally turn against their religious leaders.

The Final Crisis picks up where the Revelation timeline took its detour at the end of chapter 11, with the seventh trumpet. In this series, we will study the events relating to the Seven Last Plagues, the Battle of Armageddon, the fall of Babylon, and the Second Coming of Christ.
If you haven’t done so already, please review the other videos in the final crisis series to gain a better understanding of the context.
