The Mark of the Beast is probably the most fascinating theme in the Book of Revelation, and there are countless ideas and speculations floating around about what it is. Most of them have nothing to do with what the Bible says about it.
One thing is certain: we need to know what it is. The most fearsome warning in all the Bible has to do with the Mark of the Beast: “If anyone worships the Beast and his image and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb, and the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever, and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name” (Revelation 14:10,11).
If you only had this one verse, it would be hard to believe that God is Love. You can be sure that He is, and His indignation against the Mark of the Beast is a part of His love! You should also know that the Mark of the Beast is not a microchip or a bar code; it is much more serious and Biblical than that.
Since it is so essential for you to know what it is without prejudicing yourself by getting an answer out of context, I am going to request that you take a few minutes to read chapter 13 of The Book. That way you can get the background information you will need in order to understand what the Mark of the Beast really means.
