The false prophet is a part of the “unholy trinity” that will appear at the very end of time. He will be an important leader in Satan’s final campaign to organize all the powers of the world to try to destroy the children of God.  “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty… and they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon” (Revelation 16:13,14,16).

“The false prophet” is closely identified with the Beast from the Earth with the two horns like a lamb but who spoke like a dragon (Revelation 13:11-16).

BEAST FROM THE EARTH FALSE PROPHET
“He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence” (Revelation 13:12).
“He performs great signs…and he deceives” (vs. 13,14).
“He causes all…to receive…the mark or the name of the beast” (vs. 16,17).
“He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast” (v. 15).
“The false prophet who worked signs in his (the beast’s) presence” (Revelation 19:20).
“Worked signs…by which he deceived”  (v. 20).
“He deceived those who received the mark of the beast”  (v. 20).
“He deceived those…who worshiped his (the beast’s) image”  (v. 20).

The Beast from the Earth is as an American church-state alliance, which will deceive the masses of the world and impose the worship of the worldwide “beast” power, Babylon (see What is the Beast From the Earth?). During the Time of Trouble there will be both the Beast as a oppresive political system and “the Beast from the Bottomless pit”, who is a personification of the system (see Who is the Beast)—in other words, both the system and its leader are called the beast.  It is therefore likely that the false prophet will also be a person, a powerful, miracle-working religious leader of apostate American Protestant system.

The False Prophet, along with the Beast from the Bottomless Pit, appear again in chapter 19 in the context of the Second Coming of Christ, “making war against Him who sat on the horse (Christ) and against His army (God’s people). Then the Beast was captured, and with him the False Prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the Mark of the Beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone” (Revelation 19:19,20).
